In a colorful ceremony rich in tradition and cultural pride, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) on Monday conferred the prestigious Ibadan Ambassador of Culture Award on Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government. The event took place at the council’s secretariat in Iyana-Offa, drawing a distinguished audience that included traditional rulers, political figures across party lines, community leaders, and local residents.
The award, presented by the CCII—an esteemed socio-cultural body committed to the advancement of Ibadan’s heritage—was in recognition of Kamorudeen’s outstanding contributions to cultural preservation and grassroots development within Lagelu and beyond

Under his administration, Lagelu Local Government has initiated several cultural and community-based projects, including empowering traditional rulers, supporting indigenous artisans, and organizing local festivals that celebrate the rich history and values of Ibadanland.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Kamorudeen expressed deep appreciation to the CCII for the honor and dedicated the award to the people of Lagelu and Ibadan as a whole.
“This recognition reflects our shared commitment to safeguarding Ibadan’s cultural identity,” he stated. “
Our heritage is our strength, and together, we will ensure it thrives for future generations.”
He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to cultural promotion and youth involvement in sustaining traditional values.
President-General of the CCII, Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, commended Kamorudeen’s visionary leadership, describing him as “a dedicated steward of Ibadan’s cultural legacy.” He lauded the chairman’s efforts in aligning governance with cultural values, noting that his work exemplifies the principles of service, pride, and unity that define the Ibadan spirit.
With this honour , Hon. Kamorudeen joins the ranks of distinguished personalities previously celebrated by the CCII for their roles in enhancing Ibadan’s cultural and developmental landscape.
