A member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Abass A. Adigun, has officially resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing persistent internal crises within the party.
Adigun, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Narcotics Drugs, conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated May 5, 2026, addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ward 8, Odinjo-Muslim, Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Confirming the development, the lawmaker stated that his exit was driven by unresolved challenges within the party.

“Today, I formally resigned my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) following the persistent and unresolved internal crises that have continued to destabilize the party,” he said.
He noted that despite his decision to leave, he remains appreciative of the support he received during his time in the PDP.
“I remain sincerely grateful to leadership of the party at the ward, local government, state and national levels, as well as members and supporters who stood by me throughout my political journey since 2018,” Adigun added.
The federal lawmaker disclosed that his resignation letter was officially received by the Chairman of Ward 8, Prince Oyetunde Saheed, confirming the completion of the formal process.
Adigun also appreciated the party for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the development of Oyo State during his years of membership.
His resignation adds to the wave of political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections in Oyo State, as key actors continue consultations and strategic repositioning across party lines.
