Why AMCON sealed Late Ayegbeni’s Wallan Hotel Ibadan

Wallan Hotel formerly D’Rovans Hotel owned by later Chief Francis Aiyegbeni has been sealed by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) over 46million Naira debt owed by the late boxing promoter during his lifetime.
According to an insider, the issues started while Chief Ayeigbeni was alive, and it could be one of the reasons while the name of the hotel was changed from D’Rovans Hotel to Wallan Hotel, to separate the Hotel from Chief Aiyegbeni over the debt and other tax related issues.
The anonymous insider revealed to Ibadancity Announcer that the AMCOM takeover was so sudden and unexpected because the management of the hotel has already instituted a court case against any possible take over and they were actually not prepared as the Hotel was fully booked till December.
The third edition of GOtv Boxing NextGen Search, which kicked off at Wallan Hotel, Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State on Thursday 16th November, a night before AMCON took over the Hotel, was stopped along with all activities within the premises and all lodgers told to vacate immediately.
A visit by IbadanCity Announcer to the Hotel this morning showed that the issues have not been resolved because the facility has not been re-opened and some businesses operating within the premises of the Hotel have already moved to other locations within Ibadan while some are still searching.
