The Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Kolapo Temitope “Glorious,” has presented official vehicles to traditional rulers across the council area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to grassroots governance, peacebuilding, and the welfare of royal institutions.
The presentation ceremony, held on Monday at the Ona Ara Local Government Secretariat in Akanran, was aimed at enhancing the mobility and operational efficiency of monarchs in the discharge of their traditional responsibilities.
Speaking at the event, Glorious said the initiative was inspired by the leadership model of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, whose administration, he noted, has consistently prioritised the welfare, dignity, and relevance of traditional rulers.
He emphasised the critical role monarchs play in sustaining peace, resolving communal disputes, fostering unity, and driving development at the grassroots level.
“These vehicles are not just symbolic; they are practical tools to support our royal fathers in carrying out their duties more effectively within their communities,” he said.
The chairman disclosed that 10 vehicles had been approved for distribution, with six delivered in the first phase, while the remaining beneficiaries would receive theirs subsequently.
Beneficiaries in the first batch include the representative of the Olubadan and Chairman of the Ona Ara Traditional Council, Oba Kolawole Adegbola, Otun Balogun of Ibadanland; Oba Kamarudeen Adebowale, Oniladuntan of Laduntan; Oba Nureni Yusuf, Alajia of Ajia; Oba Mudasiru Obisesan, Alararomi of Araromi; Oba Muftau Mosaderin, Ololosunde of Olosunde; and Oba Obisesan, Alakanran of Akanran.
Glorious also revealed that a newly constructed Traditional Council Hall by his administration has been completed and is scheduled for commissioning on April 21, 2027.
According to the chairman, the Hall is expected to provide a conducive environment for the activities of traditional rulers in the local government.
In his remarks, the Vice Chairman of the Ona Ara Traditional Council, Oba Kamarudeen Adebowale, commended the council chairman for fulfilling his promise, noting that the gesture would significantly enhance the efficiency and community engagement of the monarchs.
Other dignitaries present at the event included the Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaja Mujidat Adewumi; Director of Education and Social Services, Alhaja Romoke Akande; Director of Finance, Mr. Akinloye; alongside supervisory councillors, special assistants, and other top government officials.
