The management of Osun State University has officially presented the instrument of appointment to the Group Managing Director of BOVAS & Company Limited, Mrs Victoria Samson, as the new Chancellor of the institution.
The presentation ceremony was held on Thursday at the corporate headquarters of BOVAS in Ibadan, Oyo State, where the university management formally conveyed the appointment approved by the Osun State Government and the institution’s Governing Council.
Presenting the appointment letter on behalf of the government and the university council, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Odunayo Adeboye, described Samson’s emergence as a recognition of her outstanding achievements in business leadership, philanthropy, and national development.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the institution believes Samson’s wealth of experience and leadership qualities would contribute significantly to the continued growth, academic advancement, and global relevance of the university.
He stated that the appointment reflected her contributions to business excellence, humanitarian service, and national development, adding that the university and the Osun State Government remain optimistic that her leadership would further strengthen the institution’s vision and long-term development goals.
Reading the appointment letter signed by Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, Adeboye disclosed that the appointment took effect from May 10, 2026, for an initial term of five years.
He explained that as Chancellor, Samson would serve as the ceremonial head of the university while also providing moral, strategic, and inspirational support to the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor further revealed that the university management would soon announce the date for Samson’s formal investiture ceremony.
Adeboye also commended Governor Adeleke for prioritising merit and competence in appointments within the institution and across Osun State, noting that the governor had consistently encouraged the university management to engage individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to educational growth without political interference.
Responding, Victoria Samson expressed appreciation to the Osun State Government, the Governing Council, and the university management for the honour bestowed on her.
“I thank the governor, the governing council and the university management for this honour. I appreciate the confidence reposed in me,” she said.
She pledged to support the institution’s growth and advancement, promising to deploy her experience and influence toward the continued development of the university.
The event was attended by members of the university management and top officials of BOVAS & Company Limited, including the Deputy Group Managing Director, Temitope Samson, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the university, Adetunji Kehinde.
