Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) Convicts Local Government Worker for Illegal Land Sale
The Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) has announced the conviction of Adesina Olanrewaju Oyegoke, a local government worker, for the illegal sale of land owned by the State Housing Corporation.
Oyegoke, an Assistant Chief Executive Officer in the Estate Department of Lagelu Local Government, was sentenced to three months in prison on August 14, 2024, by the presiding Magistrate O.A Akande (SMI), following a conviction on three counts of official corruption under the OYACA Law 2019.
In a press release issued from Ibadan, signed by OYACA Executive Secretary Barrister I.O. Tijani and representing Chairman Honorable Justice Eni Esan (rtd.), the agency urged civil servants to avoid corrupt practices.
“OYACA warns civil servants against corruption, which hampers state development and damages the reputation of the Oyo State government,” stated Eni Esan.
