The Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Eleyele, Ibadan, has marked its 77th anniversary with a symbolic tree planting ceremony to kickstart the construction of a new school hall at its permanent site. The event, held within the college premises, brought together management, staff, and students in celebration of the institution’s long-standing legacy.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Provost, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, described the anniversary as a significant milestone that reflects decades of excellence in nursing and midwifery education. She reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to training competent and highly skilled healthcare professionals capable of meeting global standards.
Dr. Owolabi explained that the proposed school hall, upon completion, would serve as a modern facility for lectures, conferences, and other academic activities. According to her, the project is aimed at enhancing the learning environment and strengthening the college’s infrastructure.
Highlighting the importance of the tree planting, the Provost noted that it symbolizes growth, sustainability, and a forward-looking vision for the institution. She also expressed appreciation to Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and other stakeholders for their continued support towards the development of the college.
The ceremony featured praise and worship, exhortation, prayers, and thanksgiving, with attendance by the Deputy Provost, Mrs. Iyabo Adeleke, alongside members of management, staff, and students. The college, over the past 77 years, has sustained a reputation for discipline and excellence, producing healthcare professionals making significant impact both within Nigeria and internationally.
