In his first traditional assignment since ascending the throne, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Senator) Rasidi Adewolu Akanmu Ladoja Arusa I, the newly installed Olubadan of Ibadanland, has approved the elevation of some members of the Olubadan-In-Council under the Otun Olubadan chieftaincy title line.
The historic exercise was conducted on Monday at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan, in the presence of notable royal fathers and council members.
In the latest promotion, Oba (Sir) Eddy Oyewole moved from Osi Olubadan to Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, while Oba Biodun Kola-Daisi was elevated from Ashipa Olubadan to Osi Olubadan. Others elevated include Oba Amidu Salawudeen Ajibade, who rose from Ekerin Olubadan to Ashipa Olubadan, and Oba Muritala Adebayo Akande, who advanced from Ekarun Olubadan to Ekerin Olubadan.
The announcement was contained in a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga, affirming that the promotions reflect the deep-rooted tradition of the Ibadan chieftaincy system.
It would be recalled that this marks the very first traditional function performed by Oba Ladoja since his coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, making the exercise a symbolic beginning of his reign.
Dignitaries present at the Olubadan-In-Council meeting for the elevation included prominent royal majesties: Oba (Barr) Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola, Oba (Dr) Kolawole Adegbola, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Oba Olubunmi Dada Isioye, Oba Salawudeen Amidu Ajibade, Oba Muritala Adebayo Akande, and Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin.
