The 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on Tuesday hosted the 8th edition of his annual Ramadan Lecture at the historic Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.
The event carried special significance as it marked the first Ramadan lecture organised by the monarch since his coronation as the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Sheikh Muyideen Salmon urged Muslims to uphold the virtues of Ramadan, including piety, discipline, charity and compassion. He stressed the importance of unity, peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance among residents of Ibadanland and beyond.
The lecture attracted prominent dignitaries from across Oyo State and beyond. Among those in attendance were the Aseyin of Iseyin, AbdulGaniy Adekunle Ologunebi; Chief Bisi Ilaka; Taofeek Adegboyega, popularly known as “Solutions”; the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal; former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin; and Senator Sharafadeen Alli.
Traditional chiefs, Islamic clerics, market women and Muslim faithful also graced the occasion.
The annual Ramadan lecture has continued to serve as a spiritual platform for collective prayers and reflection, bringing together religious leaders, political office holders and members of the public to pray for peace, progress and development in Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
