A former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Moses Alake Adeyemo, has emerged as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.
Adeyemo’s emergence was officially announced on Tuesday at the party’s state congress held at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan. The declaration was made by Afeez Bolaji Repete, former National Youth Leader of the party and Secretary of the APC Ad hoc Zoning Committee, under the supervision of the congress committee constituted by the party’s national leadership in Abuja.
Adeyemo served as Deputy Governor of Oyo State from 2011 to 2019 under the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi.
Other members of the newly elected State Executive Committee were also announced at the congress.
Dr. Taofeek Lamidi emerged as Deputy Chairman, while Barrister Fatai Adesina was elected Secretary. Hon. Lukman Owonikoko was returned as Assistant Secretary.
At the senatorial level, Joshua Oyebamiji was elected Chairman for Oyo Central, Hon. Mojeed Delesolu for Oyo South, and Hon. Tunde Oloyede for Oyo North.
Barrister Aborisade Sunday emerged as Legal Adviser, with Hon. Saheed Adeagbo as Assistant Legal Adviser. Hon. Lateef Ajiboye was elected Treasurer, assisted by Hon. Saliu Dauda Adisa, while Hon. Akanbi Tunde emerged as Financial Secretary alongside Hon. Wale Adebayo as Assistant Financial Secretary.
Hon. Remi Adepoju was elected Organising Secretary, with Chief Jide Leke serving as Assistant Organising Secretary.
Hon. Olawale Sadare was returned as Publicity Secretary, supported by Fafunmi Mathew as Assistant Publicity Secretary. Kamaldeen Nageri emerged as Assistant Welfare Officer.
Mrs. Tinuade Adigun was elected Auditor, with Hon. Christopher Idowu as Assistant Auditor.
In the women and youth categories, Mrs. Felicia Opatunde emerged as Women Leader, while Hon. Fatima Hassan was elected Deputy Women Leader.
Hon. Glory Olalekan emerged as Youth Leader, assisted by Hon. Sayo Fatoki.
Jimoh Osundare was elected as representative of persons living with disabilities.
Olalekan Olowe and Imran Ayinde Olona emerged as Youth Leaders for Oyo South and Oyo North Senatorial Districts respectively. Mrs. Oyebode Yetunde was elected Women Leader for Oyo North, while Mrs. Adefunke Adeoye and Mrs. Mojibade Adetona emerged as Women Leaders for Oyo Central and Oyo South Senatorial Districts respectively.
Also elected as Ex-Officio members were Akanmu Adebowale, Ejalonibu Fatai Aremu, Asimiyu Kolawole and Odeyemi Simon Oladoyinbo.
The development follows an earlier zoning arrangement adopted by party stakeholders ahead of the congress, a decision communicated in a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Olawale Sadare.
