Ibadan Residents Cry For Help As Truck Crushes Another Woman At Molete

Barely a week after a notorious accident involving a truck claimed the life of a pregnant woman at the Molete area of Ibadan, tragedy struck again as a yet to be identified woman was today crushed to death at the same area.

The accident which happened in the early hours of Friday left in its wake one death and left several other persons injured while some vehicles (three commercial buses and about four keke Napep) also got damaged, some beyond repair.

According to an eye witness, the accident happened when the trailer (an IVECO truck) carrying a container lost as a result of brake failure.

It will be recalled that just about a week ago a similar accident involving a pregnant woman occurred at the same Molete Bridge which took the life of a pregnant woman.

The corpse of the yet to be identified woman has since been deposited at the morgue by officers of the Oyo State Road Traffic Maintenance Agency.

Meanwhile, residents have called on the state government and all authorities concerned to arrest the alarming situation of road accidents and deaths that result from such accidents. Speaking with our correspondent concerning the latest incident, some residents decried the increasing rate of road accidents consuming lives and properties in the city of Ibadan.

They condemned the unnecessary wastage of lives that come as a result of over speeding and brake failure. They therefore requested that those found wanting to exposing lives and property of residents to danger should be appropriately dealt with so serve as deterrent for all motorist and most especially drivers of articulated vehicles.
