The Management of the University of Ibadan have kicked against it’s students actions over the increment in tuition fee.
In an interview with the University’s Public Relation Officer, Mrs Adeleke Akinpelu, she said the management had already told the new students the amount they’re to pay for the tuition fee,in which they’d already started paying.
She emphasized on the fact that the old students are also in campus going about their academic activities as the school management is yet to reach a final conclusion about their tuition fee.

“The students are just being mischievous,they are just trying to force the management into a corner” she said.
She further added “the school fee vary according to the student’s choice of study and the tuition fee is not as high as they claimed “.
It would be recall that in April, it was reported that the UI Students’ Union Executive Council, led by Samuel Samson Tobiloba, had condemned the hike in tuition by 750 per cent for new students.
The Council demanded that the increment should immediately be reverted to the status quo and requested a meeting with the university management towards resolving the issue.
In a special release, the union observed that the new fees range from N133,500 to N372,500, depending on the courses.
Recall also, that on Monday,Femi Adeyeye(an activist and the National Publicity Secretary of the African Action Congress (AAC),Nice Linus, Aduwo Ayodele and Mide Gbadegbesin, students of UI, were dragged and beaten by the security team for protesting against the recent tuition fee hike in the school by raising of placards inside the hall directly at the VC before being handed over to Operation Burst soldiers.
Commenting on this incident, Mrs Akinpelu said it was a propaganda by the students because things are not as it’s being portrayed.
“I’d prefer not to say much about the incident so it doesn’t seem like I’m taking sides” she said.
