The Executive Chairman Ibadan South West Local Government, Hon Kehinde Adeyemi Akande has appealed to the people of Ibadan South West local government and Nigerians at large to take caution amidst the rising uncertainty over the much touted nationwide protest.
He urged those who are bent on protesting to do a peaceful protest and prevent the damaging of properties and loss of lives. In his message, he urged the Council resident and business owners in council and environs to shun any violence during hardship protest scheduled for August 2024.
He emphasized the legitimacy of the protesters’ grievances, but noted that it should be a peaceful demonstration. “The current economic challenges facing our nation are undeniable, and I empathize with those who are struggling. However, I strongly advise against resulting to violence or destructive behavior, which will only lead to more suffering and hinder meaningful progress of the state and the nation as a whole””
