Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has confirmed receiving an official communication from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) regarding the suitability of the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, to host league fixtures.
The communication followed recent developments related to broadcast and television rights, with the NPFL drawing attention to the condition of the stadium’s playing surface.
In a response issued by the club’s management, Shooting Stars assured supporters, stakeholders, and the general public that concerns over the state of the pitch were being treated with urgency and seriousness. The club disclosed that several corrective measures had already been implemented to improve the quality of the playing turf.
According to the statement, ongoing efforts include intensified pitch maintenance, grass treatment, surface levelling, and regular watering, all aimed at restoring the pitch to acceptable standards.
The club attributed the current condition of the turf partly to the dry season and harsh weather conditions, noting that these factors have posed challenges to pitch maintenance in recent weeks. Despite this, management said work on the playing surface has been continuous, with a focus on steady improvement and long-term sustainability.
Shooting Stars reiterated its commitment to providing a safe, professional, and broadcast-friendly playing environment that reflects the club’s heritage and standing in Nigerian football.
The club added that it would continue to engage constructively with the NPFL in line with the league’s directive, while prioritising lasting solutions that would allow supporters to enjoy home fixtures in Ibadan under acceptable conditions.
Management also appealed to fans, popularly known as the Oluyole faithful, for patience and understanding as efforts continue to address the situation.
