The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has confirmed the abduction of two of its staff members in Ogun State, raising fresh concerns over the safety of workers in the power sector.
In a public announcement issued by the company’s management, the incident was said to have occurred on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, involving personnel operating within the Ogun region.
IBEDC expressed deep concern over the development, stating that its thoughts are with the affected staff and their families during what it described as a difficult period.
The company disclosed that it is currently working closely with relevant security agencies to secure the safe return of the abducted employees. It also noted that it is maintaining active engagement with the families of the victims while providing necessary support.

While acknowledging the seriousness of the situation, the company said it would not be releasing further details at this time due to the sensitive nature of the case and ongoing recovery efforts.
