The Oyo State Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS) is embroiled in a major controversy as sacked vendors petition the Oyo State House of Assembly over alleged financial mismanagement, corruption, and illegal sales of government assets.
The petition, submitted by the Association of Sacked Supervendors and Investors of PTS and addressed to the Speaker of the House, was officially received on March 21, 2025. The group accused the transport agency’s leadership of diverting revenue, engaging in shady deals, and unlawfully terminating vendors who played a crucial role in implementing the Automated Fare Collection System.
According to the petition, vendors were dismissed after the fare system became profitable, despite their financial contributions to its success. The association also alleged that some firms received payments without rendering services, while suspected ghost workers and inflated transactions further drained the agency’s finances.
A major point of contention is the alleged diversion of funds from the e-ticketing system introduced on May 6, 2024. The petitioners have demanded that Touch and Pay Technologies Nigeria Limited release full transaction records to verify the use of the collected revenue.
The group has called for a forensic audit of PTS’s financial records, the reversal of allegedly illegal government asset sales, an investigation into wrongful dismissals, and a probe into corruption, favouritism, and financial malpractice within the transport service.
In the petition, Mr. Ibrahim Asiwaju, Chairman of the association, insisted on accountability, stating, “The people of Oyo State deserve transparency. We urge the Honourable House to act swiftly.”
As public pressure mounts, all eyes are now on the Oyo State House of Assembly to take decisive action.
