Addressing journalists during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Congress on Monday, Hon. Adedeji Stanley Olajide, better known as “Odidi Omo,” urged stakeholders to regard politics as a field of service rather than war, stressing that ambition must never override reason and humility.
Speaking shortly after the successful party exercise, Odidi Omo acknowledged imperfections in the process but affirmed his satisfaction with how matters were resolved. “There is no perfect process,” he told reporters. “I am very happy with the outcome of this process, from the ward, to the LG and then to state. I won’t lie, we had issues, minor issues, but we resolved them. The governor helped us resolve them.” He expressed confidence that the upcoming national congress would be equally smooth. “It’s a funfair here today,” he added.
When asked whether the congress outcome would favor his 2027 governorship ambitions, he responded with measured faith. “To talk about ambition, I always say this as a Muslim: Allah knows how He does things. What we will be and achieve is all in His hands. Politics shouldn’t be a do-or-die affair. If it is the wish of Allah, it will come to pass; if not, He will direct our way to something else.”
He went further to outline his personal philosophy: “This is clear service. When I came into the game of politics and wanted to go for House of Reps, there were people who thought I wouldn’t make it. But here I am, serving my second term. I must tell you, I have a second address—that’s what I always emphasize. Any politician who does not have a second address is going to find it difficult to stand. I am a technologist; if things don’t go as planned, I have something to return to. So, it’s not a do-or-die affair for me.”
He then offered a goodwill message to delegates: “Go back home and do well.”
