The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed that its Elective National Convention will hold in Ibadan on November 15 and 16, 2025, with preparations in full gear despite a conflicting order from a Federal High Court in Abuja.
According to the party’s National Convention Planning Committee, delegates from across the country have arrived in Ibadan for the two-day event, which will produce a new National Working Committee (NWC) and set the tone for the party’s political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.
The organising committee, led by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, has been coordinating logistics, accreditation, venue arrangement, and security ahead of the convention. Party officials say all arrangements are “on schedule and uninterrupted.”
The event is expected to hold at adamasingba stadium, also known as lekan salami stadium in Ibadan, with security agencies already briefed to ensure order throughout the gathering.
The confirmation comes in spite of an earlier Abuja Federal High Court ruling that attempted to halt the convention. The PDP maintains that a subsequent order by an Oyo State High Court permits the convention to proceed and directs INEC to monitor the exercise, giving the party the confidence to move forward with its plans.
The PDP has urged members, delegates, and the general public to disregard reports suggesting a postponement, insisting that the Ibadan convention will go ahead as scheduled.
