The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has reaffirmed the continued existence and stability of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that the party remains focused on the future despite recent legal setbacks.
Agboworin made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists live at the commissioning of the newly built Oyo State PDP Secretariat in Ibadan.
Expressing optimism about the party’s prospects, the lawmaker said the PDP would not only contest but also secure victory in the 2027 general election, regardless of the recent court judgment nullifying the party’s National Convention held in Oyo State.
“The fact that we are commissioning a new party secretariat shows that we are looking beyond now and already considering the future of the party. PDP has come to stay; we are going nowhere,” Agboworin said.
He described the commissioning of the secretariat as a clear indication of the party’s resolve to strengthen its structures and remain relevant in national politics.
It would be recalled that the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan nullified the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan on November 15, 2025.
In its ruling, the court restrained the Turaki-led National Working Committee from presenting itself as the national leadership of the party, while affirming that the Caretaker Committee led by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the only recognised National Working Committee of the PDP.
