In a significant leap forward under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, Oyo State’s Pacesetter Transport Services has inaugurated its interstate transport services, starting with Lagos State. The launch, held on December 15, 2024, at the T.C.T.C. terminal in Eleyele, Ibadan, marks a milestone in the state’s transportation sector, a key focus area of the SAfER (Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery) program.

The SAfER program has been instrumental in driving innovation and sustainability across various sectors, with transportation being a major beneficiary. A key figure in this transformation is Hon. Dr. Dikko Salami, Chairman and Sole Administrator of Pacesetter Transport Services. Since his appointment, Dr. Salami has introduced the revolutionary Omituntun Card System, which replaced traditional ticketing and cash payments, streamlining operations for intracity and intercity metro buses.
The launch event was graced by several dignitaries, including the First Lady of Oyo State, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde; Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaja Fausat Joke Salami; Chairperson of Egbeda Local Government, Sikiru Sanda; Sole Administrator of 3SC, Hon. Babatunde Olaniyan; and the Director-General of the Liaison Offices in Abuja and Lagos, Hon. Oladimeji Temitope.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Dikko Salami highlighted the transformation in the company’s earnings since he assumed office. “When I came into administration, the company was earning about ₦200,000 daily. Today, we earn over ₦1.5 million daily,” he said.
Dr. Salami also announced the launch of a logistics arm for the transport services and emphasized the transition to CNG-powered vehicles. “Since we took over last year, we have been spending almost ₦77 million monthly on diesel. Switching to CNG is a cost-effective and sustainable solution, and it reflects our commitment to affordability and reliability,” he added.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support, which has made the company’s advancements possible.
Pacesetter Transport Services has significantly expanded its operations, boosting intracity services and now venturing into interstate routes. The newly launched interstate buses are designed with passenger comfort and sustainability in mind, powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for cleaner emissions. Key features of the buses include: Air conditioning for a comfortable ride, Personalized charging ports for devices, Refreshments for passenger convenience, Onboard e-entertainment, and Free WiFi to ensure connectivity.
The Lagos route is being offered at a subsidized flat rate of ₦3,200, making interstate travel affordable and accessible to all.
The launch of interstate services by Pacesetter Transport Services underscores Oyo State’s commitment to modernizing transportation and improving the lives of its citizens through innovative and sustainable initiatives.
