The Oyo State Government has commenced its confirmation, promotion and advancement examinations for civil servants, teachers and local government staff, as part of efforts to enhance productivity and career progression in the state public service.
The exercise, which began on December 16, is being conducted across designated centres in Ibadan and is scheduled to conclude on December 17, 2025.
During an inspection tour of selected examination centres, the Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, monitored the conduct of the exercise to ensure transparency, smooth coordination and compliance with established guidelines.
Mrs Oni described the examinations as a critical step towards strengthening professionalism and efficiency within the Oyo State civil service. She said the government remains committed to improving administrative processes and building a motivated workforce capable of delivering quality service to the public.
She further disclosed that the state is intensifying efforts to transition fully from paper-based examinations to computer-based testing, noting that the move would enhance efficiency, accountability and credibility in future exercises.
According to her, the examination portal was opened to eligible candidates for one month ahead of the exercise. She advised applicants who experienced challenges during registration to remain patient and ensure proper documentation in subsequent exercises.
Reacting to the conduct of the examinations, the Oyo State President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Ayobami Adeogun, commended the state government and the Head of Service for consistently prioritising workers’ welfare and career development.
Some participants, who spoke off camera, expressed optimism that the outcome of the examinations would further motivate workers to improve their performance and commitment to public service delivery.
