Oba Owolabi Olakulehin has been nominated as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland by the Olubadan in Council.
The traditional kingmakers of Ibadan land agreed to nominate Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The Olubadan in Council (the traditional kingmakers) during their meeting,on Friday,at Mapo Hall, in Ibadan,Oyo State named Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the next Olubadan of Ibadan land.
The Eighty -seven year old, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin,is the head of the Balogun and the Most Senior High Chief of the Balogun line to the Olubadan throne.
He was nominated by the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe in the absence of Otun Balogun, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola.
With the development, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin will be addressed as the Olubadan of Ibadan.
He will then go through traditional rites shortly before he receives staff of office from the Governor of Oyo State,on coronation day which will be fixed by the State government.
Recall that his next-in-command, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, has alleged that Olakulehin is not medically fit for the throne. He said he ought to be given time to recover before being nominated.
But High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, the Otun Olubadan, had dismissed Ajibola’s claim saying it’s his personal opinion as he’s not his doctor.
