A new film chronicling the life and political journey of late Ibadan political strongman, Chief Lamidi Ariyibi Adedibu, is set to premiere on Libra TV on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Titled Adedibu, Alagbara Ibadan, the film explores the life of the prominent Ibadan politician, tracing his journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of the most influential political figures in Oyo State and Nigeria.
The production also examines Adedibu’s rise to political prominence, his influence in public affairs, relationships with political associates and opponents, and the legacy he left behind in the politics of Ibadan, Oyo State and the country.
Veteran Nollywood actor Lere Paimo plays the role of Adedibu in the film.
He is joined by other prominent actors, including Dele Odule, Afeez “Saka” Oyetoro, Segun Arinze, Kayode Olaiya, Adekola Tijani and Taiwo Ibikunle.
The film is produced by Seun Oloketuyi, founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards, and directed by Abiodun Jimoh.
According to Oloketuyi, the production was inspired by the need to preserve significant chapters of Nigeria’s political history and present them to a wider audience through film.
Adedibu, who became one of the most prominent political figures associated with Ibadan politics, played an influential role in the political affairs of Oyo State during his lifetime.
His Molete residence became widely associated with political activities, with politicians and supporters regularly converging on the compound during his years of influence.
The film is expected to revisit different chapters of his life and the political era in which he operated, presenting audiences with a dramatised account of a man whose name remains closely connected with the political history of Ibadan and Oyo State.
Adedibu, Alagbara Ibadan will premiere on Libra TV’s YouTube channel on Sunday, October 4.
