The Olubadan-In-Council has officially nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, marking a significant step in the succession process following the demise of the former monarch.
The unanimous decision was reached on Monday during a crucial meeting held at the Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, within Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Though the newly nominated monarch, Oba Ladoja, was absent from the meeting, members of the council all signed the resolution affirming his selection.
Speaking after the meeting, the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, who presided over the session, stated:
“We (members of the Olubadan-In-Council) have all signed and nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland. We will forward the resolutions of our meeting to our Governor, Seyi Makinde. He will now pick a date to present a staff of office to the new Olubadan.”
Oba Ajibola noted that the official coronation will not take place this week due to preparations for the burial of the late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025.
“The late Olubadan will be buried this week. So, this week is not feasible. He (Governor Makinde) may decide to pick three weeks, two weeks, or one week,” Ajibola added.
