The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to sustained inter-agency collaboration with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to enhance the security of custodial facilities across the state.
This assurance was given by the State Commandant of NSCDC, Augustine Padonu, while receiving the Controller of NCoS, Oyo State Command, Mr. Osogun Olusegun, during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Ibadan on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
Speaking during the visit, Controller Olusegun expressed appreciation for the warm reception and the continued support the Correctional Service has received from the NSCDC since his assumption of office. He commended the Corps for its consistent role in safeguarding custodial facilities, noting that such collaboration has significantly strengthened the security architecture of Oyo State.
He, however, raised concerns over the increasing vulnerability of custodial centres, particularly during periods of civil unrest and public protests. According to him, the evolving security landscape—especially as the political season approaches—makes it imperative for security agencies to intensify cooperation and adopt proactive measures.
Olusegun called for enhanced intelligence sharing, coordinated joint operations, and improved rapid response mechanisms to prevent potential security breaches. He expressed confidence that the existing partnership between both agencies would continue to guarantee the protection of correctional facilities across the state.
In his response, Commandant Padonu reiterated the NSCDC’s readiness to deepen its collaboration with the Nigerian Correctional Service. He emphasised that the relative peace being enjoyed in Oyo State is largely due to the effective synergy among security agencies.
The Commandant further assured that the Corps would sustain its support through intelligence-driven operations, strategic deployment of personnel, and continued efforts to safeguard critical national assets.
