On Monday, the Oyo State Government convened a crucial meeting with approximately 80 youth associations to address concerns about potential disruptions to upcoming protests.
The meeting, held at the House of Chiefs, State Secretariat in Ibadan, focused on ensuring that any demonstrations remain organized and non-violent.

Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, emphasized the state’s commitment to supporting peaceful protests while expressing concerns over the potential for external interference.
He noted the lessons learned from the #EndSARS protests of 2020, stressing the need for identifiable protest leaders to enhance security and avoid property damage and loss of life.
Youth representatives highlighted widespread dissatisfaction stemming from economic hardships and government inefficiencies.
They called for a more accountable administration and urged security personnel to maintain civility and coordination during demonstrations.
Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives, Titilope Gbadamosi, reassured attendees of ongoing efforts by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to address economic challenges.

She encouraged youths to engage with available government programs, such as student loans and the Nigeria Youth Academy, and expressed optimism that local government autonomy would improve grassroots impacts.
Oyo State’s Director General for Youth Development, Mr. Adebowale Falana, echoed concerns about the risk of protests being hijacked by those with malicious intents, while the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, assured that measures are being implemented to facilitate a peaceful protest environment in the state.
