“My Husband Was a Fearless Leader, Not a Villain” — Alhaja Abosede Adedibu Urges Government to Immortalize Late Strongman of Ibadan Politics

In an exclusive interview with Ibadancity Announcer, Alhaja Abosede Adedibu, widow of the late Ibadan political titan, has passionately defended the legacy of her husband, describing him as a principled and God-fearing man who deserves to be honored by both state and federal governments.

“My husband is not just an Ibadan-based politician,” she said. “He might have lived in Ibadan, but he was a strong man of Nigerian politics. He worked with highly respected leaders like Baba Awolowo, Baba Akintola, and MKO Abiola. He stood firm in his political beliefs, and that made people see him as a fearless figure.”

Alhaja Abosede, visibly emotional as she spoke about her late husband, highlighted the difference between public perception and personal reality. “So many people have sinned thinking about him as a bad person. But outside politics, he was a fantastic man and an exceptional husband. I always pray for him to be my husband again and again.”

She emphasized his spiritual values, noting that he was a deeply religious man whose fear of God commanded respect from people around him. “As the adage says, if you fear God, the creatures of God will fear you. That’s why I believe people feared and respected him.”

On whether she sees anyone today who can match her husband’s political strength and influence, she remarked, “I won’t speak like an unbeliever, because there’s nothing God cannot do. Maybe someone will rise in future, but for now, I have not seen anyone like my husband.”

Alhaja Abosede concluded with a heartfelt appeal to both the Oyo State and federal governments: “I beg the government, both state and federal, to name something after him. He did so well in politics and in service to humanity. He deserves to be remembered.”
