Makinde Signs Executive Order to Regulate Security Groups in Oyo, Speaks on Oriire School Kidnap

Governor Seyi Makinde has signed Executive Order No. 1 of 2026 aimed at regulating associations, groups and organisations offering security and allied services across Oyo State.

The governor disclosed that the new Executive Order, titled Executive Order on the Regulation of Associations, Groups and Organisations Offering Security and Allied Services in Oyo State, was designed to ensure that all security-related groups operate within a clear legal and operational framework.

According to Makinde, the move is intended to strengthen peace, public order and adherence to the rule of law in the state.

Speaking after signing the order, the governor also addressed the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire Local Government Area, assuring residents that security agencies were intensifying efforts to rescue the abducted children and teachers.

He stated that security operatives were working round the clock to ensure the safe return of the victims.

The governor’s remarks come amid heightened security concerns following the attack on schools in the Oriire axis, which has drawn widespread condemnation and triggered ongoing rescue operations by security agencies.
