Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing speculations about a possible defection as the political season approaches.
The governor made the declaration while responding to questions from journalists during his visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, on Tuesday.
Makinde said he remains comfortable in the PDP but stressed the need for bipartisan cooperation to address critical national challenges.
“I am comfortable in the PDP,” he said. “There are situations in this country where we need a bipartisan approach. It should not be about APC talking alone or PDP talking alone. At such moments, we must focus on the best interest of the country and put our best foot forward. When we get to that junction, everybody must be on board.”
The governor’s comments come amid heightened political alignments ahead of future electoral contests, with his visit to the President sparking renewed public debate over cross-party engagements.
