Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff following the resignation of Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi.
The governor also named Mrs Aderonke Adedayo, his Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies, as Director-General of the state’s Due Process Office, replacing Tara Adefope, who resigned from the position.
The appointments were announced on Monday, October 12, 2026, through letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde. Both appointments take immediate effect.
Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, submitted his resignation in a letter dated October 12, stating that his departure took effect that day.
He described serving the government and people of Oyo State as a great honour and a deeply fulfilling experience, expressing pride in the administration’s collective contributions to the state’s growth, development and prosperity.
Ogunwuyi thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and expressed confidence in Oyo State’s continued progress. He also reaffirmed his loyalty to the state and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
His departure adds to the exits recorded among Makinde’s aides in the past two months.
Adefope’s resignation became public shortly after Ogunwuyi’s. She had led the Due Process Office since the early days of the Makinde administration and has a background in law, governance, risk, regulation and compliance.
Akinwole, a grassroots politician, previously served as Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission.
Adedayo will combine her new responsibilities at the Due Process Office with her existing duties as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies.
Makinde congratulated the new appointees and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with loyalty, commitment and dedication to the people of Oyo State.
