Ibadan, Nigeria – Dreams turned into reality for six top graduates of Nigeria’s latest automotive training programs as Lanre Shittu Motors, in collaboration with Wheeldrop Petroleum and NORD, handed out ₦1 million each along with automatic employment opportunities. The announcement was made by Mr. Taiwo Shittu, Managing Director of Lanre Shittu Motors, during his keynote at the National Conference on Youth Automotive Innovation, held at the Civic Center, Ibadan.
The initiative recognizes the outstanding performance of the top three graduates from both the automotive conversion program (Petrol Natural Gas to Compressed Natural Gas) and the Bajaj tricycle and motorcycle training program organized by the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC). In addition, Mr. Tobi Ajayi, Chairman of NORD, donated ₦5 million to empower another five trainees. Wheeldrop Petroleum also offered automatic employment to the top six, giving them a direct pathway to apply their skills in the industry.
Speaking to IbadanCity Announcer, Ibuowo Aishat Motunrayo, a beneficiary from the automotive conversion program, expressed her surprise and excitement. “I feel great and happy. I wasn’t expecting any of this; I only thought we would receive our certificates,” she said. She described the training, conducted by Portland Gas Limited, as comprehensive, covering mechanical, electrical, and computerized aspects of vehicle conversion. She urged future participants to take such training seriously, noting the unexpected rewards that could follow.
Other beneficiaries from the Bajaj tricycle and motorcycle program, Sarafa Akanji and Raji Kamorudeen, also shared their excitement. Raji said, “I was surprised when my name was called. I never expected this, but I thank God. What is destined for you will find its way.” Sarafa Akanji expressed gratitude to God and the organizers for the unexpected support. “We were told our certificates would be presented on November 26, 2026, but nobody expected we would also receive such empowerment,” he said.
The collaboration between Lanre Shittu Motors, Wheeldrop Petroleum, and NORD is part of a growing push to bridge the skills gap in Nigeria’s automotive sector. By providing funding, tools, and employment opportunities, the program ensures that young Nigerians are not only trained but also empowered to contribute meaningfully to the country’s growing automotive industry.
