The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has launched a full-scale investigation into the heartbreaking death of 14-year-old Kehinde Alade, who was allegedly gunned down during a clash involving operatives of the Oyo State Police Command and the Oyo State Traffic Management Authority (OYTMA).
In a statement issued by the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, the IGP described the incident as both “tragic and unacceptable.” He confirmed that the officer suspected to have fired the fatal shot has been arrested and is currently in custody.
Egbetokun pledged a transparent and thorough investigation, assuring the Nigerian public that justice will not be compromised. “Justice will be served, and due process will be followed to ensure accountability,” the statement read.
The Force extended its deepest condolences to Kehinde’s grieving family and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the lives and rights of every Nigerian citizen.
Meanwhile, the Police urged the public to remain peaceful and law-abiding, encouraging all concerns and protests to be channeled through lawful means
