In a bid to deepen transparency and accountability at the grassroots, Ibadan South West Local Government has partnered with the Local Open Governance Initiative (LOGINAIJA) in conjunction with the MacArthur Foundation to strengthen its commitment to open governance practices.
A two-day capacity-building workshop was held from Wednesday, May 27 to Thursday, May 28, 2025, at the Mini Mapo Hall, located within the council secretariat. Themed “Strengthening Open Governance Partnership at the Local Government,” the event brought together political office holders and career officers of the council for intensive training aimed at improving service delivery and citizen engagement.
As a major outcome of the workshop, a dedicated website for Ibadan South West Local Government was officially handed over to the council. The site, developed by LOGINAIJA’s technical team, is expected to serve as a vital platform for information dissemination, updates on council activities, and improved interaction between the government and the public.

To manage the website and ensure it remains functional and up-to-date, a special committee comprising both political and administrative officers was inaugurated. The committee will be tasked with overseeing the platform’s content and aligning it with the needs of constituents.
During the event, Mrs. Kehinde Oyekunbi Adediran, the Council’s Information Officer, was formally appointed as the Open Governance Partnership (OGP) Desk Officer. In this capacity, she will coordinate the implementation of OGP principles within the local government.
Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Adeyemi Akande, expressed appreciation to LOGINAIJA and the MacArthur Foundation for their technical and moral support. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.
“Ibadan South West Local Government is proud to lead in the adoption of open governance practices. This website and the newly formed committee will go a long way in ensuring that our people have access to information and a voice in governance,” he said.
The LOGINAIJA team was led by Ms. Michelle, the team leader, alongside guest speaker Mr. Usman Ummar, and Mr. Gabriel, the technical lead. Their presence underscored the initiative’s commitment to promoting effective governance at the grassroots.
The event witnessed the attendance of key council officials including the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Sunday Adebanjo; Chief of Staff, Alhaji Hazzan Bello Bolaji; Leader of the House, Hon. Adewale Adelodun; Councillors representing all 12 wards; Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaja Olatoyosi Salau; Director of Administration and General Services, Mrs. Latifat Titilola Amusat; Director of Finance, Mr. Iyiola Olalekan; and Director of Budget and Planning, Mr. Tirimisiyu Kolade.
