HEALTH : Oyo State Nurses commence strike, support JOHESU

As President Buhari leaves the country for his medical trip to keep an appointment with his doctors in United Kingdom this week, association of Nurses and related health workers in Oyo state along with their colleagues across the country joined the ongoing national strike by federal Health workers to press home their demands for better welfare package and improved condition of service.
IbadanCityAnnouncer reporter who was on a visit to the Oni and Sons Memorial Children’s Hospital Ring Road Ibadan, for an assignment, gathered that Nurses stayed away from the only Children Hospital in Oyo state in line with the directives from the Nurses association.
Meanwhile, some mothers and their children were seen seated in one of the open spaces where they were being attended to by some student doctors from University Teaching Hospital, ibadan. Our reporter sought to speak with the Chief Consultant but the gate man informed us to come back later in the day as he has not come to the hospital.
The Joint Health Sector Unions started their ongoing nationwide strike action on 18th of April 2018. Series of meeting with the federal Government officials are being held in order to put an end to the industrial action. However there appears to be no end in sight as we write this report due to the fact that they have not been able to reach any concrete agreement with the federal Government.
