Former Vice-Chancellor of LAUTECH dies at 70.

Professor Mojeed Olaide Liasu, the former Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), has passed away following a brief illness.

Born in Ibadan, the distinguished professor of the Department of Botany breathed his last on Wednesday, November 29, approximately six months post his retirement on June 12, 2023, upon reaching the age of 70.

Professor Liasu had assumed the role of acting Vice-Chancellor in 2021, succeeding Michael Ologunde, who was directed to step aside by the Oyo State Government through the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the citadel of learning, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, conveyed the news of the passing of retired Acting Vice-Chancellor on Wednesday evening.

In an official statement endorsed by Professor Kalilu, heartfelt condolences were extended to Professor Liasu’s family, characterizing his demise as a profound loss.

The University Management has already expressed condolences through a visit to the late leader’s spouse.
