Former First Lady of Oyo State and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, has firmly denied allegations linking her to an alleged plot to influence members of the Oyo State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement issued by her media office, Ajimobi described the claims as “entirely false, baseless, and a deliberate act of disinformation,” aimed at tarnishing her image and misleading the public.
The development comes amid recent political tension following separate denials by lawmakers, including Hon. Gbenga Oyekola and Deputy Speaker Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi, who also dismissed claims of involvement in any plot to destabilize the state government or accept inducements from political actors.
Ajimobi categorically refuted allegations that she hosted or participated in any meeting, either in Lagos or elsewhere where plans to influence the Oyo State Assembly were discussed.
“At no time did I convene, attend, or participate in any such meeting with any individual or group for the purpose of discussing impeachment or destabilizing the Oyo State Government,” she stated.
She further described attempts to link her to the allegations as malicious political propaganda designed to bring her into disrepute, particularly among the people of Oyo State.
The former First Lady also distanced herself from political developments within the state, noting that the activities of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are not her concern.
“Linking me to such a plot could only be borne out of mischief and deliberate reverse propaganda to malign my reputation,” she added.
Reaffirming her commitment to peace and democratic values, Ajimobi maintained that she has never been involved in actions capable of undermining the stability of the state.
She urged the public to disregard the reports, warning that the spread of false information could heighten political tension and may be addressed through legal means if not retracted.
Ajimobi concluded by stating that she remains focused on her humanitarian engagements and contributions to society, insisting she would not be distracted by what she described as “unfounded and mischievous claims.”
