Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, on Tuesday visited the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, amid growing controversy over his recent claims concerning the Oyo State Government.
Fayose, who had earlier alleged that there were plans to remove the Olubadan over undisclosed issues, met with the monarch at his palace in Ibadan.
Speaking with journalists after the visit, the former governor said his decision to visit the Olubadan was to show solidarity in light of what he described as “latest developments.”
“I came to identify with the Olubadan because of the latest issues and what I revealed about what lies ahead,” Fayose said.
He insisted that his earlier statements were based on credible information, maintaining that he does not make public claims without reliable sources.
“Nobody in this country has come out to contradict what I said. Whatever I say, I either have the right information from the source or I am privy to certain activities,” he added.
Fayose further reiterated his allegation that Governor Seyi Makinde has an agenda to remove the Olubadan, though he acknowledged uncertainty over whether such a plan would materialise.
“Let me say it again, Governor Makinde has an agenda to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland. Whether it will succeed or not is another matter,” he stated.
The former governor also referenced previous claims he made regarding certain political developments, including controversial actions and financial matters, which he said were initially denied but later confirmed after evidence was presented.
His remarks come amid heightened political tension in Oyo State, with stakeholders expressing concern over issues relating to traditional institutions and governance.
As of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Government has not issued an official response to Fayose’s latest remarks.
The development has continued to generate reactions across political and traditional circles, particularly in Ibadan, where the position of the Olubadan remains a highly revered institution.
