On Tuesday morning, a tragic accident along the Ojo-Iwo Road section of the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway near the Agbowo/Ajao area resulted in the feared death of 25 individuals.
The collision involved a trailer loaded with roofing sheets, which crashed into an 18-seater hummer bus, a Micra taxi, and a Honda CR-V.
Eyewitnesses reported that the trailer’s brake failure caused it to plow into the other vehicles traveling in the same direction.

Mr. Victor Enoha and Mrs. Ronke Ojuowo, who were at the scene, suggested that ongoing construction on the expressway might have contributed to the accident, as one lane was blocked.
“This side of the road has been blocked now for a while due to the ongoing construction, they should hasten up with the construction and open it up for free flow of vehicular movement” Mr Victor said.

They urged the Oyo State government to invest in heavy towing vehicles and ambulance buses to enhance emergency response.
Additionally, they called on the road construction contractor to reopen the blocked lane to prevent future fatalities on the expressway.
By the time of this report, private towing vehicles had been crucial in clearing the wreckage, and several injured passengers were being transported to local hospitals for treatment.
