As Christians across the world celebrate Easter, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged believers to embrace the core values of love, sacrifice, and selflessness that define the season.
In an Easter message signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the governor congratulated Christians on the successful completion of the 40-day Lenten period and the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Makinde noted that Easter represents the peak of God’s love for humanity, demonstrated through the persecution, death, and resurrection of Christ. He called on Christians to reflect deeply on these values and incorporate sacrificial living into their daily lives.
The governor also appealed to the faithful to continue praying for Oyo State, Nigeria, and leaders at all levels, especially at a time he described as critical for the nation’s progress. He commended the Christian community for its consistent support and cooperation with his administration since 2019, urging sustained partnership in the collective effort to build a better society.
While extending his goodwill, Makinde advised residents to remain vigilant during and after the festivities. He encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities and make use of the state’s emergency number, 615, emphasizing that maintaining security is a shared responsibility.
