The Director of Service of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oyo State Command, SDS Usman Biu, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command Headquarters in Agodi, Ibadan, in a move aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration.
During the visit, Biu highlighted the longstanding and cordial relationship between the DSS and NSCDC, noting that the engagement was designed to reinforce existing ties and enhance cooperation in tackling emerging security challenges across the state.
“This visit is to further consolidate the relationship that has been in existence between our agencies as we put our heads together to address various security challenges confronting the state,” he said.
The DSS Director also emphasized the need to motivate personnel involved in joint operations, reiterating his commitment to the safety of the state.
“My commitment is to the security of Oyo State. If you fail, I have failed, and if I fail, you have failed. We are here to complement one another,” he added.
In his response, the NSCDC State Commandant, Augustine Padonu, commended the DSS for its critical role in intelligence-driven operations and expressed appreciation for the visit. He assured the DSS Director of continued cooperation and briefed him on the prevailing security challenges within the state.
Padonu further advocated for enhanced inter-agency training, particularly in intelligence gathering, to strengthen operational capacity. The meeting featured discussions on improved synergy, intelligence sharing, and capacity building, with both agencies exchanging plaques as a symbol of mutual respect and commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Oyo State.
