The Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Oyo State Government following a courtesy visit to the state’s newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Musbau Adetunji Babatunde.
According to a post on the Commission’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the delegation, led by the Director-General, Dr. Seye Oyeleye, visited the SSG to congratulate him on his recent appointment and to reinforce the existing working relationship between the regional body and the state government.
The meeting, held in Ibadan, focused on strengthening institutional ties and enhancing policy coordination aimed at advancing development initiatives across the Southwest region.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Oyeleye acknowledged Professor Babatunde’s extensive background in public service, highlighting his previous roles as Special Adviser to the Governor and Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget in Oyo State.
He noted that the SSG’s wealth of experience in governance and policy formulation would serve as a strategic advantage in fostering stronger collaboration between the DAWN Commission and the Oyo State Government on regional development initiatives.
In his response, Professor Babatunde expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed Oyo State’s commitment to regional integration and cooperative development among Southwest states.
He emphasised the need for closer alignment between state-level priorities and broader regional development frameworks designed to promote sustainable socio-economic growth across the Southwest.
The SSG also pledged to work closely with the DAWN Commission to ensure that its programmes, policy frameworks and strategic initiatives translate into tangible benefits for the people of Oyo State and the wider region.
Both parties expressed optimism about sustaining a productive partnership through established platforms such as the Forum of Southwest Secretaries to the State Governments, which serves as a coordination mechanism for policy engagement and collaboration among states in the region.
