The historic D-Rovan’s Hotel, a well-known hospitality landmark in Ibadan, has been demolished by its new owners following its sale. The hotel was formerly owned by the late Chief Francis Aiyegbeni, a former Nigerian superstar boxer, businessman, philanthropist, and engineer. He was also the Chairman of the hotel, which was initially known as D’Rovans Hotel before being renamed Wallan Hotel.

Chief Aiyegbeni played a significant role in Ibadan’s social and business landscape, with his hotel serving as a hub for entertainment, events, and hospitality. Following his demise in 2016, the property was eventually sold, leading to its recent demolition at its Ring Road location.
Reports indicate that demolition crews arrived on-site and swiftly pulled down the structures. While details of the sale remain undisclosed, speculation is growing over the redevelopment plans for the site.
The demolition marks the end of an era for one of Ibadan’s most iconic establishments. As the city continues to evolve, residents and stakeholders remain eager to see what the future holds for the historic location.
