Crown FC Defeat Shooting Stars on Penalties to Win 2026 Oyo FA Cup

Crown FC emerged champions of the 2026 Oyo Federation Cup after defeating Shooting Stars SC 5–3 on penalties at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Sunday, April 26.

Shooting Stars fielded a noticeably altered starting XI, resting several key players. Ozovehe started in goal, with Friday, Monsoor, Luis, and Gbolagade forming the defensive line. Abayomi, Ribanu, and Ismail operated in midfield, while Kalio, Chukwudi, and Alade led the attack.

Crown FC, on the other hand, maintained their regular lineup. Moradeyo was in goal, protected by Haruna, Samuel, Akeem, and Habeeb in defense. The midfield trio of Abubakar, Oyetunde, and Ebenezer provided balance, while Akpan, Sodiq, and Emmanuel spearheaded the attack.

The Ajilete Boys from Ogbomoso took the lead in the 25th minute through a brilliant solo effort from Emmanuel David, giving Crown FC a 1–0 advantage heading into halftime.

Shooting Stars responded strongly in the second half after introducing key players from the bench. Their persistence paid off in the 58th minute when they leveled the score, shifting momentum in favor of the Oluyole Warriors.

Despite sustained pressure from Shooting Stars, Crown FC held firm defensively to force the match into a penalty shootout, as no extra time was played. Crown FC converted all five of their spot-kicks, while Shooting Stars managed only three, sealing a 5–3 victory for the Ogbomoso side.

Speaking after the match, goal scorer Emmanuel David expressed gratitude for the win, attributing the triumph to consistent training and deliberate preparation.

Crown FC, who compete in Nigeria’s second-tier league, currently sit third on the table and are pushing for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). Meanwhile, Shooting Stars occupy fifth position in the NPFL with 54 points, as they continue their pursuit of continental qualification.
