A support group for the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, the Adelabu Mandate Media Group, in collaboration with Penkelemesi Global Darlings, on Saturday organised its annual Ramadan lecture in Ibadan, where participants called for prayers and support ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.
The event, held at the Bayo Adelabu Foundation Hall in the Jericho area of Ibadan, attracted party loyalists, Islamic clerics and supporters of the minister.
Delivering the lecture titled, “Faith and Discipline: A Pathway to a Successful Future,” Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ismaheel Gbamolada, stressed the importance of faith in Allah and personal discipline as essential ingredients for success in life.
Gbamolada also urged Nigerians, particularly residents of Oyo State, to exercise patience over the country’s electricity challenges, noting that the crisis in the power sector predates Adelabu’s appointment as Minister of Power.
According to him, the minister has continued to make efforts to address the long-standing problems in the sector and improve electricity supply across the country.
Speaking on behalf of the chief host, Adelabu, Comrade Femi Awogboro dismissed criticisms from political opponents over the minister’s performance in the power sector.
Awogboro described Adelabu as a capable leader and a strong contender for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election, insisting that his record in the power sector reflects his leadership ability.
He further claimed that the minister had facilitated more than 21 electricity-related projects in Oyo State, adding that while some of the projects had been completed, others were at different stages of implementation.
He called on residents of the state to remain calm and supportive, saying Adelabu remained committed to improving electricity supply in Nigeria.
The event also featured special prayers by Muslim clerics for peace in the country and for Adelabu’s success in his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
