The General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Dimeji Lawal, has called for support and patience for the newly appointed coach of the Nigerian Super Eagles, emphasizing that judgments should be reserved until results are seen. Lawal shared his perspective during a recent media interaction, addressing concerns about the appointment of a foreign coach for the national team.
“I’ve been asked this question several times, and I always give two answers: I don’t judge someone I don’t know, and I respect people a lot,” Lawal stated. “I am one of those clamouring for a Nigerian coach, but that does not mean we cannot take a coach from anywhere. Let’s give him a chance—who knows, maybe he’ll be the one to give us what we’ve been looking for.”

Drawing a comparison to the English Premier League, where most coaches are non-English, he said, “People are free to work anywhere. The important thing is for the coach to deliver at the end of the day. A coach can only be judged by his last game, and this man hasn’t played any game for us yet. People should not be so judgmental. Let’s just support him and wait.”
Shifting focus to his team, Lawal reiterated 3SC’s lofty aspirations for the current Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season. He emphasized the club’s commitment to securing a spot in continental competitions while aiming for league glory.
“By the special grace of God, we will achieve something tangible this season,” he said. “The minimal target for us is to pick a Continental ticket, but we are going for the league. If we don’t win the league, we’ll fall back on the Continental ticket. Our target and focus are clear.”
Lawal also highlighted the management’s dedication to the players’ welfare, ensuring timely payment of salaries and allowances. “We care for our boys so well; we pay their salaries and all allowances on due dates. This motivates them to perform at their best,” he added.
Dimeji Lawal’s remarks reflect his belief in the potential of both his team and the national squad. His call for patience with the Super Eagles’ coach and his confidence in 3SC’s readiness to make a mark this season underline his passion for the game and commitment to Nigerian football’s growth.
