Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, has expressed unwavering support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s rumoured 2027 presidential ambition, describing the governor as his leader, boss, and source of inspiration.
In an interview with Ibadancity Announcer, Hon. Ige spoke passionately about his loyalty to Governor Makinde and his belief that the governor’s leadership qualities have positioned him for higher national service.
When asked whether he himself has political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections, Hon. Ige maintained a humble and faith-driven stance.
“This is 2025; let’s leave everything for God to decide. He knows how He takes care of me,” he said. “I’ve been consistently relevant in politics and governance for the past 22 years. God knows how to sort me out.”
Pressed further on which position he might be eyeing, Hon. Ige responded with optimism and loyalty, hinting at a collective success for the governor and his team.
“In 2027, we will all make it. My boss, Governor Seyi Makinde, will also make it to Abuja. Everyone in Oyo State will make it,” he declared.
On the widespread speculation that Governor Makinde is being positioned for the presidency in 2027, Hon. Ige made his support crystal clear.
“It’s my joy that my governor, my leader, my boss is going to Aso Rock. That’s our prayer,” he affirmed with enthusiasm.
Hon. Ige’s comments reflect the deep bond and political alignment between him and Governor Makinde. Known for his consistency and loyalty, Ige has served in multiple capacities under Makinde’s administration, including as Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism and now as Chairman of the Local Government Staff Pension Board.
