Smarg Empowers African Creatives with Innovative Financial Solutions, Starting from Oyo State
In a recent conversation with Clement Johnson, one of the co-founders of Smarg, at the Oyo State digital economy summit held at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, he shared insights into how their financial app is transforming the landscape for young African creatives.
Smarg, a financial app as described by Johnson, serves as a financial companion tailored specifically for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and young professionals navigating unique financial challenges.
“Smarg is like a financial companion for African creatives,” Johnson explained.
“It’s designed to meet the specialized financial needs of young people starting out in their careers, providing solutions that traditional banks may not offer.
“Key features of the Smarg app include capabilities for earning both locally in Nigeria and internationally, managing spending, setting up recurring payments, and facilitating targeted and group savings.
These features aim to empower users with financial tools that cater to their dynamic lifestyles and income streams.
Johnson emphasized that Smarg’s involvement in initiatives like the Oyo State Digital Economy Summit underscores their commitment to grassroots innovation.
“The summit was not sponsored by Smarg; it was powered by Smarg as an initiative to support our community in Oyo State,” Johnson clarified.
“Before expanding globally, we believe in starting locally and empowering our people”he said.
Reflecting on their mission, Johnson expressed Smarg’s dedication to growing alongside digital creators by addressing their evolving financial needs. “Our goal is to add value to digital creators’ lives,” he affirmed.
“With Smarg, they can earn in dollars and seamlessly convert to naira, unlocking new opportunities for financial growth.”
Although the founders are based in Ibadan, Johnson highlighted that Smarg’s impact extends far beyond the city. “As a tech product, we’re not limited to Ibadan; our vision is from Ibadan to the world,” he stated, outlining their ambition to scale their innovative financial solutions across Africa and beyond.
In conclusion, Clement Johnson underscored Smarg’s role as a catalyst for financial empowerment among African creatives, signaling a promising future for inclusive financial services in the region.
