Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested suspected armed robbers and recovered weapons, several stolen mobile phones and cash during a patrol operation in Ibadan.
The arrest followed a proactive stop and search operation carried out by police officers at the General Gas area of Akobo, where a suspect riding a motorcycle attempted to escape on sighting the operatives. The suspect, later identified as Abiodun Adeyemi Michael, was pursued and apprehended by the officers.

A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a Magnum pump action gun loaded with six live cartridges, several mobile phones including different models of iPhones, Tecno phones, Redmi phones and a Samsung Galaxy S10. Other items recovered include a WiFi device, a power bank, an Oraimo radio, four wristwatches and the sum of one hundred and thirty thousand naira.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to participating in robbery operations alongside three accomplices identified as Olaoluwa Pamole, Ahmed Ismail and Lamidi. Acting on the information, police operatives proceeded to the suspects’ meeting point at Access Hotel in the Sawmill area of Onipepeye along Iwo Road in Ibadan, where two of the accomplices were arrested while the third suspect escaped and remains at large.
The suspects also allegedly confessed to snatching an ash coloured Honda car in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Femi Haruna, has directed that the case be transferred to the Command Monitoring Unit for further investigation and prosecution, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect. The police also urged residents who may have lost valuables to robbery around the Toll Gate and Egbeda areas to come forward to identify and claim recovered items after proper verification.
