As part of activities marking the 60th anniversary of the iconic Cocoa House, the management has announced free access to the Odu’a Museum, located on the 24th floor of the building, from Monday, August 18 to Friday, August 22, 2025.
The announcement was made during a milestone event organised by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission in partnership with Odu’a Investment Company Limited. The event, themed “Transforming Today’s Resources into Tomorrow’s Legacy: Cocoa House as a Beacon of Audacity,” celebrated the historic significance and future potential of the West African landmark.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Prof. Ogunyemi recounted the remarkable story behind the establishment of Cocoa House, reflecting on the bold vision that made it a groundbreaking achievement in its time. He emphasised that with visionary leadership and strategic resource management, legacies like Cocoa House can continue to inspire and deliver lasting impact for future generations.
The anniversary celebration, held on August 14 at Carlton Gate Xclusive Hotel, Secretariat–Total Garden Road, Ibadan, attracted notable guests including the Director-General of DAWN Commission, Dr. Seye Oyeleye; management representatives of Odu’a Investment Company; delegates from the Think Yoruba First movement; officials from the Oyo State Ministry of Education; students from the University of Ibadan; and other members of the public.
Cocoa House, completed in 1965, remains a symbol of the economic prosperity and foresight of the old Western Region, standing as one of Ibadan’s most enduring landmarks.
