Former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao Akala is dead. The All Progressive Congress leader in Oyo State said to have died in his sleep early this morning Wednesday, 12th January at the age of 71.
Alao Akala was the Deputy Governor to Senator Rasheed Ladoja between 2003-2007 before he became the governor of the state between 2007-2011 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He controversially served as the interim governor of Oyo State when Governor Ladoja was forcefully and illegally removed on 12 January, 2006 before he was reinstated by the court.
Otunba Alao Akala was also a retired Police officer before he joined Politics.
